Worlds fastest supercomputer runs Fedora

by davidnielsen

IBM was contracted to build a supercomputer for the Los Alamos National Laboratory which is called Roadrunner what makes it interesting to me is not that it’s a 1.7 petaflop hybrid machine that for a supercomputer falls into the green power catagory but the fact that the OS used on the whole thing is RHEL and Fedora. Looking at the list of applications for this machine it includes things like ensuring the security and relability of the US stockpile of nuclear weapons, doing accurate climate change predictions, astronomy… wait did they say nuclear weapon safety??.. thank you for the vote of confidence guys.

Fedora, not just trusted to keep nukes from accidently going boom, it’s also a fine choice for your desktop.
