Compiz on AIGLX using r300 driver – out of the box!

by davidnielsen

There’s no small way to describe my joy when I saw krh’s compiz on AIGLX packages, a quick recompile later to make a x86_64 rpm. run gnome-window-decorator and compiz –replace gconf.. hoping for the best.

And it worked out of the box on my x86_64 setup using the driver setup currently available in Development.

It’s not perfect, it’s slow but I’m having fun wobbling my windows.

* Workspace selector shows only one visible workspace (there are there though just invisible but taking up panel space).

* Totem unable to display videos.

* glitzes here and here.

I’m impressed, really impressed.

Recompiling cairo against glitz to enable the glitz backend greatly improves performance
